I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Christ was praying for His disciples so that God would protect them. This prayer refers to us as well, because we are also Christ’s disciples. It is very important to read every verse of John 17 and understand what the Lord asked for us. He said, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one”.
Many think that if we are believers, we are isolated from this world. No, beloved, we live in this world, but we need God to protect us in this vile, dark and evil world. We cannot protect ourselves. The Word of God says, if the Lord does not protect the house, the guardians stay awake in vain. We need the Lord. Of course, if you sin, that does not mean he Lord did not protect you. Your decision is also very important.
Christ said, “Sanctify them…”. In the end times I want to speak about holiness more and more, because we need holiness. Of course, God sanctifies us. He purifies us with the blood of Christ, but it is very important for us to make a decision and not to sin anymore.
When a prostitute was brought to Jesus Christ to be stoned, Jesus said, “I do not condemn you also, go and do not sin anymore”. These words apply to each of us. If the Lord has cleansed you, go and never sin again, and if you still live in sins, ask the blood of Jesus to cleanse you, make a decision never to commit sin again.
May the Lord bless you. Remain in holiness, because the way to heaven belongs to those who are holy. Amen.
