This week we talk about peace. Yesterday’s word taught us that peace is not established itself; it must be created and built. And today we are going to talk about living peaceable with all men as much as it depends on us.
Of course, sometimes people may say: “I do not want to have peace with you”. Due to that reason God says. “…Vengeance is mine, I will repay”, “…Avenge not yourselves “, “…As much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men”.
Many things depend on us, but if we put effort and it fails, then we can say. “Lord God, I tried everything but did not succeed, please help me”. The Lord will hear our prayer and will help us.
Let’s suppose, you argued with somebody. Go and apologize to him/her. It does not matter who of you is in fault – you or him/her, since God’s Word says. “…thy brother hath ought against thee, …go thy way first be reconciled to thy brother” (Matthew 5:23-24).
If he/she does not forgive you, go to the members of their family and ask them to meddle in and help you to be reconciled. If it also does not work, look for an opportunity and visit him/her with a gift. If it fails too, then you may say. “I’ve tried as much as it depended on me, however everything failed”. Then the Lord will say. “…Vengeance is mine and I will repay”.
So, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Amen.
