If you read a few verses before you will see that the apostle Paul speaks about those who run in a race. He says that all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. We must run in such a way as to win.
All humanity is in a race today. People try to pass one another. But if you ask why they compete or where they want to get to, many do not have any answer. The apostle Paul says: “Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air”. If we do not have a vision or a goal, we can be people who run “beating the air”.
The runners know quite well their running track. They know where they have started and where they are getting to. Today when you ask people whether they know where they are getting to at the end of their lives, most of them do not have any answer.
People work and work, create and build something, but do not understand that their lives are passing and one they it will be finished. They get up in the morning, have breakfast, coffee and go out to compete, then they come back home in the evening, go to bed to continue the same race the next day believing that the end will be good, the life is still ahead. But the years just fly quickly, and you do not even realize how you become 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70… Many realize only at the end of life that they spent their years in vain.
Beloved, have a vision, a goal, know clearly where you want to reach at the end of your life. Move forward with that vision and goal. It is pity when the man realizes at the end of his life that he lived a meaningless life, worked only for a daily bread.
Our lives really belong to the Lord. The apostle Paul says, run in such a way as to reach. Let us take the counsel of the apostle Paul and do not run beating the air, but have a clear vision and goal in front of us.
